Where Do You Even Start?

The Beauty Industry is huge. There are plenty of beauty products. It can be super overwhelming to choose which ones to use. You start with products that are vegan, cruelty-free, and chemical-free.

Vegan, Cruelty-Free, and Chemical-Free

It’s important to me that the product is vegan (contains no animal ingredients) and is cruelty-free (not tested on animals). These are absolutely non-negotiable for me. The leaping bunny label verifies that the product is vegan and cruelty-free. Check out the Leaping Bunny. As always, make sure to read the ingredients in everything – no matter what. The other important thing to me is that the product needs to be chemical-free. I don’t expect every single product in the world to be 100% perfect in this regard, but the truth is that the majority of chemicals can wreak havoc on our health with the toxicity they contain, affecting our insides and our skin. You can go to EWG’s (Environmental Working Group) database called Skin Deep to check the toxicity level on products. Some products may not be in the database. A score of 1 is the best, and the higher the number, the more toxic it is. There is also an app called Think Dirty that is helpful plus there’s Campaign For Safe Cosmetics.

Beauty Product Standards Are Raising

Looking for vegan, cruelty-free, and chemical-free beauty products narrows it down. More beauty products are improving though, and that’s a good thing! There are more brands and companies committed to creating beauty products with high standards being of high quality than there were a few years ago.

What Products Are Considered Beauty Products?

When I think of beauty products, I think of makeup, skincare, hair care, dental care, and nail care. To simplify this, I’ve narrowed it down to five products that are great to start with. There are other products I want to try, but haven’t tried yet. So, everything I mention, I use.

Transitioning to Vegan Beauty Products

Food seems like the more obvious things to change in your life when you go vegan, but choosing what products you use is just as important. You can control what you consume as well as what you put on your body, so choose wisely. Many people aren’t aware of the atrocities of animal testing. It’s overlooked at times, but thankfully, more awareness is being brought to the huge issue. As animal testing is completely unnecessary, it’s also completely unnecessary to use animal ingredients. Milk from cows and goats, beeswax, honey, red bugs, animal fat, and silkworms are all used in some products such as shampoos, soaps, makeup, skincare, etc. Check all ingredients, always. There is always a healthy plant alternative. Basically, a simple rule I’ve set for myself is if I can’t eat it, I won’t put it on my body. Now, it wouldn’t taste good, but the products are made with food-grade plant ingredients.

Now on to the 5 Amazing Vegan Beauty Products!

Sephora Crystal Nail File

I really love this nail file, it’s the only one I use, and it works perfectly! A high-quality nail file is a must for beautiful and healthy nails! When you’re done shaping your nails the way you want them, all you have to do is put the nail file under running water. It’s as good as new, and ready to use again! It comes in a sleek case that keeps it from getting scratched up or damaged. You can get it in purple or pink. This crystal nail file doesn’t damage nails like metal ones can. There are other great crystal nail files, too. So, if you use a nail file, go for a crystal one.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara

I’ve tried other mascaras, and this is the one I like the most! It doesn’t skimp on quality. I don’t wear fake eyelashes, so I want a mascara that can elongate the beauty of my eyelashes. This mascara from Tarte does just that! It’s not flaky or smudgy. It lasts, and it makes the eyelashes stand out! The bonus is the case it’s in is beautiful!

These are my favorite lip colors, ever! They’re made with fruit and other plant ingredients. My favorite one is the Pomegranate. It’s such a gorgeous vibrant color! They’re moisturizing, not sticky, not-drying, and last long. If you want beautiful, moisturizing lip colors that last.
