Lots of Variety
Hummus can be made from so many foods. You can make hummus with beans, zucchini, tahini, sweet poatoes, red bell peppers, eggplant, avocados, edamame, carrots, lentils, etc. Hummus is creamy and thick, so it’s great to spread on sandwiches, wraps, pizza, burgers, and toast. Hummus is also great to dip crackers, tortilla chips, and vegetables into and to even have on pasta and salads. I love Mary’s Gone Crackers because they’re healthy and simple. The Super Seed Chili Lime, Super Seed Lemon Dill, and Super Seed Everything are my favorites. My favorite tortilla chips are Siete Lime, and my favorite vegetables to eat with hummus are cucumbers, celery, and bell peppers. Hummus is perfect as a snack, side, appetizer, or as a part of a meal, and it’s perfect on-the-go.
Homemade Or Bought
While it’s ideal to make your own hummus, there are some awesome ones in stores and online. I love Hope hummus. They have simple and pure ingredients, and my favorites of theirs are the Original Recipe Hummus and the Black Garlic Hummus. Roots Hummus is awesome, too. They even have oil-free varieties of hummus. Magestic Garlic sprouted hummus is another great hummus.
Oil-Free Love
When I make hummus, I leave oils out. Oil-free works best for me and my lifestyle. Store-bought hummus usually always has oil though. So, if you do include oil in recipes you make or buy hummus with oil in it, oilive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, flaxseed oil, avocado oil, and sesame oil are better options than other oils. When I follow hummus recipes that contain oil, I just simply leave the oil out. The way I feel about consuming oils it is that it’s not necessary, needed, or wanted.
Oil-Free Barbecue White Bean Hummus (The Vegan 8)
I love barbecue flavors, and white beans make this hummus incredibly smooth and creamy. So much amazing barbecue tangy flavor!
Yellow Hemp Hummus (The Glowing Fridge)
This is one of the first hummus recipes I’ve ever tried, and it’s still one of my favorites. The amazing and super beneficial turmeric and hemp seeds are the star ingredients in this hummus recipe, and turmeric is what gives this hummus a beautiful bright yellow color. Cheery hummus!
Dill Pickle Hummus (Blissful Basil)
Dill is one of my absolute favorite herbs to use, so I love vegan recipes made with dill. It’s such a fun and delicious flavor. Pickle juice and pickles make this hummus burst with dill, obviously. Smooth and runny tahini makes this hummus perfect since tahini doesn’t have a strong taste to it. Make sure to always use raw tahini because it is not bitter.
Red Lentil Buffalo Hummus (Blissful Basil)
Red lentils are an interesting choice to make hummus with, but it works out beautifully. Smoked paprika is my top favorite seasoning to use, and this hummus recipe happens to use it. I also love the vinegar and hot sauce combo in this hummus recipe because it gives this hummus such a satisfying delicious taste while pulling all of the ingredients together very well.
Skinny & Spicy Buffalo Dip (The Glowing Fridge)
Bonus! I consider hummus to be a dip, so I’m including this super lovely recipe here. Garbanzo beans are my favorite beans, so I love this dip. I also love it because it uses lemon juice and hot sauce. Yum! Franks’s hot sauce is the only hot sauce I use. It’s the best. This dip is really versatile because of it’s perfect balance of flavor. So fresh!
Traditional/Original/Classic Hummus
A classic regular vegan hummus recipe sounds truly delightful, but I haven’t found one I love yet. Maybe, one day, I’ll come up with my own. I suppose garbanzo beans or tahini would make a great base for it. I would also love to add apple cider vinegar, garlic, and fresh lemon juice. Himalayan sea salt is a must. Also, I believe smoked paprika, cumin or chili powder, and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper would be amazing. We’ll see!
